Yet, do we carry memories of a smell that feels like hell?

Can such a memory be expressed through art?

This artwork is the embodiment of that very question.

Inside a transparent plastic bottle are components that evoke the scent of hell.

Socks worn after walking for six hours.

Fermented foods known for their pungency — natto and kimchi.

Hair left unwashed for a week.

Can these reminders of hellish experiences be contained within a box?

That awful feeling when gum sticks to paper —

and the lingering scent of the gum itself —

That, too, is hell.
